SENTINEL SOUND - Everlasting in Reggae, Ragga & Dancehall Das SENTINEL Soundsystem wurde Mitte 1998 gegründet . „ Reggae`n´Dancehall in it´s original jamaican style“; diese Devise steht für SENTINEL im Mittelpunkt ihres musikalischen Wirkens. Den Job des Plattenauflegens übernimmt bei SENTINEL Nadia, eine Frau an d en Plattentellern, die der sonst so von Männern beherrschten Reggaewelt zeigt, daß es für sie kein Problem darstellt, die Crowd mit den besten Tunes mehr und mehr zu pushen. Der zweite Selector von SENTINEL ist Thilo, seit Anfang 2000 mit in der Crew und schon zuvor seit vielen Jahren als DJ unterwegs. Die Stimme des SENTINEL wird durch Elmar verkörpert, der für die im Dancehallbereich s ehr wichtige Kommunikation zwischen der Musik und dem Publikum im Sinne eines Entertainers zuständig ist. Das wichtigste bei einer SENTINEL-Party ist der lebendige Austausch zwischen dem Sound und den Menschen, die die Musik hören und zu ihr tanzen. Das Publikum muß regelrecht mit in die Party miteinbezogen werden - dann erst entsteht die explosive Mischung der karibischen Nightclubs, eine Atmosphäre aus Sex und Körpersprache, Rude Boys und Family Vibes und vor allem - viel Bass. 	MMI Hi-Fi ist ein Ein-Mann Sound System, das von Selecta Thomy Thunder betrieben wird. In Thomy's DJ-Sets finden sich nahezu alle Facetten des Reggae-Sounds wieder: Roots und Dub Reggae der 70er Jahre, analog und digital produzierter Dancehall von 1975 bis heute, aktueller Dub aus England, USA und Deutschland, aktuelle Ragga-Riddims, HipHop(-Remixe)... Außerdem streut er Eigenproduktionen seines Studioprojekts MMI Production (a.k.a. ME/MYSELF&I Production), Specials, Soundeffekte, Rare Grooves und Downbeatz mit ein. Wir sind jetzt seit 2003 am Start und haben schon so einige Reggaeparties an den unterschiedlichsten Orten gestartet. Im Jugendkulturhaus Bensberg haben wir unser Partyhauptquartier gefunden und sind glücklich der Bergisch-Gladbacher Massive ein wenig Abwechslung zu bieten, bei dem sonst so erbärmlich ausfallenden Angebot im Gladbacher Nachtleben. Reggae ist für uns nicht nur eine Musikrichtung, sondern vielmehr ein Lebensgefühl, welches einerseits eine grundsätzlich positive Lebensausrichtung und andererseits ein gesundes Maß Vorsicht an der uns vorgegaukelten Weltansicht beinhaltet. 	Bereits seit 1994 beschallt Selekta Schappi die Westfalen-Metropole Münster mit Dancehall-Reggae, Rub-A-Dub, Ska, Rocksteady & Dub. BA BA BOOM SOUND wurde Anfang 1998 ins Leben gerufen. Allerdings nicht als "typisches" Soundsystem, denn Schappi legt hauptsächlich alleine auf, mit Sampler und Dubplates ausgestattet, aber - bei Bedarf - auch mit MC. Zur Zeit unterstützt von MC Junior Klapp. Die Musik und der groove hat absolute Priorität: BA BA BOOM ist mehr ein "dance"-sound als ein "wheelout"-sound. Außerdem tolerant: keine chi chi man/lesbian-tunes - bun out unequality! Im August 2003 wurde BA BA BOOM INTERNATIONAL gegründet - ein Zusammenschluß beider boom-sounds aus Deutschland und Frankreich. Bei uns hatten die verschiedensten DJ's (Mighty V, Doc. Weedy, Daddy Jingles, Lion Youth, Manu Ranking and more) die ersten Auftritte in der Stadt. Aber die Highlights waren natürlich unsere Showcases mit Mystic Dan oder Daddy Rings und vielen anderen Microfon-Artisten. Erst kürzlich konnten wir unseren 15. Soundgeburtdstag mit über 500 Besuchern feiern. Vorwiegend sind wir ein Dancehall Sound mit einer Vorliebe für early Raggamuffin Tunes. 	The King Fari Sound System is a sound system based in Paris composed of one Selector, DADDY K (Mix), and a DJ, DREAD LION (Vocals). They are playing every variety of reggae, from Dancehall Raggamuffin to roots reggae and dub. Always playing the latest releases and some fresh dubplates, they are adding a vocal animation in the pure tradition of the jamaican Sound Systems. Inspired by Sound Systems like King Sturgav and Sir Coxsone Outernational, they find their originality and their own style through the french toasting of DJ Dread Lion on famous jamaican riddims. Frequently they have some jamaican talents like SHOCKING MURRAY, SINGING U and NIGHTHAWK and WISEMAN joining the session to perform their latest songs live and direct, creating this incredible atmosphere you can only find in jamaican dancehalls. The King Fari Sound System came together in 1994. 	JOINT VENTURE SOUND SYSTEM was started by DJ BASS REPRODUKKTOR XIADZ MAKEN I in 1989 and was one of the first Polish alternative discos at the time. It had always have many connections to the idea of Jamaican reggae sound - systems with its creative role of a DJ & MC. But it must be said that there has been also many differences. The most important is the fact that JVSS is not a pure reggae sound system. Even through their selection always focuses on modern and classical dub & reggae, they are not afraid to present some modern global beats, digidub, funk, dancehall, ragga, jungle, ska and even hardcore beats sometimes for demand.
